Handling a legacy BUSD balance on BSC

An old BUSD balance needs two checks before a swap: which BUSD representation the wallet holds, and which exit is currently available for that representation. The fact that a historical guide used BUSD as a default stablecoin does not establish current liquidity or deposit support.

Paxos states that it no longer mints new BUSD, while allowing its customers to redeem BUSD for dollars or convert it to USDP. That statement should not be interpreted as permission to deposit every BUSD-labeled token on any network.

Identify the BSC version separately

PancakeSwap's list identifies Binance Pegged BUSD on BSC at 0xe9e7CEA3DedcA5984780Bafc599bD69ADd087D56. The BSC balance and the original issuer's product are distinct layers of the asset relationship.

A DEX exit depends on a current executable quote for that contract. A custodial or issuer exit depends on the receiving service's current network acceptance and account eligibility. Establish the intended path before moving tokens between addresses.

Compare real outputs, not historical parity

When selling through a BSC pool or aggregator, inspect how much of the chosen replacement asset you will receive. A stablecoin design does not prevent liquidity from becoming thin. Nor does an old price chart show what a present trade of your size can realize.

For a hypothetical 400 BUSD holding, separately record the quoted replacement-token output, native BNB gas and any later transfer requirement. Do not combine them into a claim that every BUSD is immediately redeemable for one dollar by this wallet.

After the trade, retain the old and new contract addresses with the transaction hash. This makes the record understandable even if a wallet later changes the displayed name or removes a legacy token from its default list.
