BEP-2 and BEP-20 after BNB Chain Fusion

An old BEP-2 or BEP-8 balance on BNB Beacon Chain is not a BEP-20 swap input on BSC. BNB Chain Fusion retired Beacon Chain and moved its functions toward BNB Smart Chain. The official Fusion documentation explains this change; a wallet label does not perform the migration.

Recovery guidance changed in 2026

The recovery sunset plan states that the hosted tool was discontinued from July 1, 2026. Its later phase requires manual recovery with user transaction signing. A tutorial telling users simply to visit the former hosted application is therefore incomplete for the current date.

BNB Chain now publishes a local self-service recovery guide. Use that guide to establish the current workflow and requirements. This page does not reproduce installation commands because the official procedure and software version should be checked together.

Eligibility comes before a swap quote

The sunset notice limits recovery to tokens mirrored to BEP-20 on BSC; tokens that were never mirrored are not eligible under that mechanism. Seeing a familiar token name in a wallet cannot establish that the necessary historical binding exists.

Determine the exact old asset, verify its eligibility using the official recovery material, and complete the supported process before treating it as a liquid BSC balance. A DEX price for a similarly named BSC token does not recover the old asset or prove its recoverability.

After a successful recovery, verify the receiving BSC account and resulting asset. Then plan any swap as a new transaction with current liquidity and gas conditions. Keep the recovery record separate from the later trade: they explain different changes to the portfolio and may have occurred on different systems.
