WalletConnect is a connection method, not an exchange

WalletConnect is a connection method between a wallet and an application. Choosing it does not choose an aggregator, a bridge or a liquidity pool. The application still proposes the trade, and the wallet still authorizes supported requests.

The official network description identifies the communication and relay roles. For a concrete retail example, FoxWallet’s guide describes opening a dApp on a computer, choosing WalletConnect, then scanning its QR code from the phone.

Choose the connection for the whole workflow

A desktop site paired with a mobile wallet gives you a large quote screen and a separate signing device. An in-wallet browser keeps the application and signer together. Compare whether you can inspect the full recipient, network and order details in the arrangement you actually use.

The connection must also support the action. CoW Swap’s wallet guide lists WalletConnect v2 while separately discussing typed-order and contract-wallet signing. A successful connection therefore does not prove that every order type will work with every account behind it.

Handle the return trip deliberately

Before switching from the browser to the wallet, know whether the prompt is a connection request, token approval, trade transaction or signed order. After signing, return to the original application and find its status. Reopening an app or losing a connection does not by itself cancel an instruction already authorized.

Some mobile flows have explicit continuity requirements: the 1inch Wallet guide asks users to keep the app open until the swap has a status. Follow the instructions for the product you selected rather than assuming mobile background behavior is universal.

For selection, prioritize a combination that supports your actual account and exposes the important trade details. QR-code convenience is useful, but it is not evidence about the quality, cost or safety of the execution route.
