A token transfer is paused or your address is blocked

If a token contract rejects transfers because it is paused or an address is restricted, more gas and wider slippage will not remove that restriction. The failing condition lives in the token’s rules.

Identify the authority and scope

Check the exact token contract, its published documentation and verified implementation. A pause may affect all transfers or only specific operations. Address restrictions may apply to the sender, recipient or another participant in the route.

OpenZeppelin provides a pausable ERC-20 extension, while its access-control documentation distinguishes different administrative roles. Those are examples of available mechanisms, not proof that a particular token uses them.

Separate evidence from assumption

A generic transfer error alone does not prove a freeze. Look for a decoded condition or an official issuer notice. Other causes include insufficient balance, wrong allowance and unsupported transfer deductions.

If an issuer provides an official process for reviewing a restriction, follow that process through verified channels. A third-party “unlock” transaction cannot simply overrule the contract. Avoid paying a stranger who claims a wallet synchronization will remove an issuer-level block.

Where a malicious token intentionally prevents selling, there may be no user-controlled remedy. Stop paying for identical failures and preserve transaction evidence. Revoking unrelated approvals can reduce other exposure, but it does not make a restricted token transferable or restore its market liquidity.
