Enough tokens to swap, but insufficient funds for gas

Your input token balance and your ability to pay network fees are separate balances. An account can hold enough tokens for the trade and still lack the native coin required by the selected transaction flow.

Check the fee asset on the actual chain

Read the wallet’s fee summary and confirm the network. A token with the same ticker on another chain does not fund this chain’s execution. Wrapped native tokens are also contract tokens; do not assume their balance is automatically usable as native gas.

Uniswap’s failure guidance identifies insufficient network-token funds as a reason a transaction cannot proceed. Some wallets offer supported sponsorship or alternative-fee flows, but that is a feature to verify for the exact account, chain and application—not a general property of every swap.

Budget for the complete flow

If an approval must confirm first, its fee reduces the balance available for the subsequent swap. A second approval reset, cancellation or retry can require another transaction. Review the maximum fee at each signing step rather than assuming the first estimate covers everything.

Hypothetical check: you have enough native coin for an approval but almost none left afterward. The approval may succeed while the swap confirmation is unavailable. The token allowance is now active even though no trade completed.

Reduce the native-coin input amount if you are spending the fee asset itself, or obtain the required native asset through a route you understand. Do not send tokens to a stranger who promises to “activate” gas. Before adding funds, confirm the wallet is yours and not subject to suspicious automatic outgoing transfers.
