You can reduce sandwich exposure by limiting the execution deterioration you authorize, avoiding trades that are large relative to available liquidity and using a supported protective submission route. No single setting removes every execution risk.
Control the outcome you authorize
Review minimum received for an exact-input swap or maximum input for an exact-output swap. A very wide tolerance gives the transaction more room to execute at a worse result.
Ethereum’s MEV documentation describes how transaction ordering can affect DEX users, including sandwich behavior. A poor fill alone does not prove an attack; ordinary price movement and trade impact can also reduce output.
Check the route’s market conditions
Compare quotes at different sizes without signing. Shallow liquidity can make a large trade sensitive to state changes. Splitting is not automatically better because each transaction introduces cost and a new execution opportunity.
Verify protective submission
A private route can keep a transaction out of the public mempool, but its chain support, sharing policy and fallback behavior matter. Flashbots documents builder trust and warns about public rebroadcast after RPC switching.
Do not assume an Ethereum-specific service protects a BNB Smart Chain transaction. Confirm the actual submission path used by the wallet or aggregator.
Inspect the final result
Compare actual received tokens with the signed bounds and quote. If execution looks suspicious, preserve the hash and neighboring transaction evidence for investigation. Raising gas alone is not a general sandwich defense, and accepting extreme slippage to force a trade can worsen exposure.
