Clear signing makes supported transaction data readable on a trusted signing display. It helps you verify the authorized action; it does not establish that the token, router or economic terms are safe.
Ledger’s developer overview describes translating encoded transaction data into information a person can review. The practical benefit is seeing meaningful fields before approving them.
Read the details instead of the label
Confirm the asset, amount, recipient, allowance spender, network and validity conditions that the supported flow displays. A clearly shown unlimited approval is still unlimited. A clearly shown transfer to the wrong address is still the wrong transfer.
If a field is absent or a request falls back to unreadable data, do not assume the previous clear-signing screen covers the new operation.
Keep separate security questions separate
- Does the request match what you intended?
- Is the contract the genuine deployment?
- Do the protocol and token rules fit the risk you accept?
- Is the quoted execution economically acceptable?
Readable signing primarily improves the first question and can help inspect the second. It cannot independently answer every question about contract behavior, future upgrades or liquidity.
Check current device and application support through the vendor’s official documentation. Support is specific to transaction formats and integrations; owning a particular device does not guarantee every swap will display the same information.
When browser and device disagree, stop. The mismatch is useful evidence to resolve, not a cosmetic difference to click through.
