A concentrated-liquidity chart is useful only after you identify what its bars measure and where the current price lies. Bar height can represent liquidity parameters, token amounts or dollar valuations; those are not interchangeable capacity units.
Read four chart elements
- Price orientation: determine which token is priced in the other.
- Current price: locate the point from which the intended swap starts.
- Bar measure: inspect whether height means active liquidity, deposited capital or another statistic.
- Range width: check whether bars cover equal price intervals or equal tick intervals.
Uniswap's active-liquidity guide constructs a distribution from the current liquidity and changes at initialized ticks. That chart differs from simply plotting each position's deposited dollar value.
Follow the intended direction
For a hypothetical purchase that moves price upward, inspect the liquidity from the current price toward higher prices. A tall concentration below the current price may be valuable for the opposite direction but irrelevant to this path until conditions change.
A narrow tall bar can provide excellent local depth yet little total capacity before its boundary. A wider lower region can matter more to a large trade. Height alone does not decide the output.
Check what the chart omits
A cropped chart can hide liquidity outside the visible window. Delayed data can miss withdrawals or new positions. Aggregated bars can conceal short thin intervals or gaps. Different charts may also sum gross position changes instead of the active liquidity available across intervals.
Use the chart to explain a size-specific quote, not to replace one. Record its pool identity, data time, axes and bounds. If those are unavailable, treat visual density as qualitative context. Do not infer an exact dollar trade limit from an unlabeled histogram, even when it appears to show a very large wall of capital.
