Simulate the exact swap transaction before submission

Simulate the transaction the wallet will send. A successful call with a placeholder sender or missing value answers a different question from whether the user's swap can execute.

Geth documents eth_call as executing a message against selected state without publishing a transaction. Supply the intended from, to, data and value, together with the correct chain and a recorded block context. Keep the simulation result bound to that exact payload.

Sequence matters

If approval has not been mined, a normal simulation can fail because the spender lacks permission. Complete the required approval, refresh the route and simulate again. Do not interpret a simulation made with imaginary approval state as evidence that the current wallet is ready.

Gas estimation and call simulation provide related but distinct information. Estimate the same execution request rather than a simplified token transfer. Contract-level failures should be investigated before assigning a larger gas limit.

Interpret the result narrowly

A successful eth_call says the execution completed under the selected state and call assumptions. It does not reserve liquidity, prevent a later price move or guarantee inclusion before a deadline. Some simulation services also provide asset changes and traces; those are additional observations, not something every eth_call response contains.

If a provider reports incomplete simulation, retain that uncertainty. The 0x issues reference distinguishes incomplete validation from a definite failure. Your application may choose a stricter launch policy, but should label it as its own policy.

Record enough context to reproduce a failure: chain, block, sender, transaction destination, value and a protected payload reference. Avoid logging private keys or reusable signatures. Re-run validation after a meaningful delay or any change to the trade.
