Do not treat “refund available” as one universal cross-chain guarantee. Before selecting a route, establish what can be returned, on which network, to which address, after what delay, and whether the user must act.
LI.FI’s recovery explanation separates completed delivery, partial delivery and refund. It also states that recoverability after failure depends on the bridge and onchain state. Bugs, chain problems or incorrect transaction details can still cause loss.
Three outcomes to distinguish

LI.FI’s intermediate-token guide describes a destination conversion stopping when liquidity or slippage conditions prevent the target trade. Receiving that bridged asset is not the same as a source-chain refund, and does not promise unchanged market value.
Compare operational obligations
A route may refund automatically, require a provider-triggered action or expose a user recovery path. Fusion+ has its own escrow and recovery instructions. Do not transfer those rules to an unrelated bridge simply because both products advertise cross-chain swaps.
Ask whether network fees already spent are recoverable, whether a separate recovery transaction needs gas, and whether an alternate recipient changes the refund address. If the interface does not make the answer clear, that uncertainty belongs in the route comparison before commitment.
After submission, use the existing order and transaction records to identify the state. A recovery countdown is not proof that a refund has arrived. Verify the actual asset movement before placing a replacement trade or declaring the original amount available again.
