One address, different BSC and Ethereum balances

The same hexadecimal account address can appear on BSC and Ethereum while holding completely different balances. An address identifies an account within a network's state; it is not a shared balance across all compatible chains.

Ethereum's account documentation explains how an externally owned address derives from a public key. BSC's EVM compatibility allows familiar account tooling, but the BNB Smart Chain network executes and records its own transactions.

Think in chain-and-address pairs

Consider a hypothetical account with 100 USDT on BSC and zero USDT on Ethereum. Both wallet views may show the same 0x address. Changing the selected network changes which state the wallet reads; it does not move the 100 tokens.

A BSC trade changes the BSC balances involved. To use value on another network, the holder needs a supported transfer or conversion process that explicitly targets that destination. An ordinary same-chain swap does not accomplish the extra step.

Contract accounts require another check

The familiar private-key account example should not be blindly applied to smart accounts. A contract account depends on deployed code and its control rules. Seeing the same address characters on another network does not establish that the same contract exists there or that it has the same owner configuration.

Before sending a BSC swap output to a smart account or service deposit address, verify destination support for the actual network. An address copied from an Ethereum-only deposit instruction is not enough evidence for a BSC transfer.

For useful records, write “chain 56, account 0x…” rather than storing the address alone. Add the token contract for BEP-20 holdings. Those three identifiers distinguish the wallet location, the executing network and the asset whose balance changed.
